It has been quite some time that there is any addition in the stable of Mitsubishi Motors in India. There is still two Mitsubishi Pajeros being sold today as ever. The Mitsubishi Pajero is the second generation car while the Mitsubishi Montero is the fourth generation of the same vehicle. Thus we have two generations of the same Pajero selling in India. Now, Mitsubishi is soon to launch the sports version of the Pajero which is christened as Mitsubishi Pajero Sport this February.

As per sources the SUV that is being brought to India as Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is the Mitsubishi Challenger. The Challenger or albeit the Pajero Sport in India is in its second generation and was first introduced in 1997. The car draws its ladder frame chassis that is highly sturdy and can take on any terrain from Mitsubishi Triton and will be available in India in 2.5 or 3.2 litre diesel and 3.0 or 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine options. There will be a seating option for five or six persons available in the Pajero Sport. The four door mid sized SUV will be further increasing the SUV competition in India that has already been triggered by domestic and international car makers who are all ready to pitch in their SUV offering in the country this year or next. Notably, Mitsubishi also provides bullet proof Mitsubishi Pajero as government vehicles in alliance with Hindustan Motors.

Experts believe that the Pajero Sport 2.5 diesel engine option has more prospects of acceptance and entry in India. This engine outputs 140PS which is decent enough for SUV of this size. The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is also known as Mitsubishi Nativa and Mitsubishi Pajero Dakar in other parts of the globe. Other offering of Mitsubishi in India are Mitsubishi Outlander SUV and two sedans Cedia and Lancer.
