Mitsubishi plans step up of localization of Pajero SUV
Mitsubishi India is still hopeful of grand sales even when all the health indicators sign a slowdown in demand. Following its positive attitude towards India, the car maker has reportedly decided to increase its portfolio as well as step up the localization content of its cars. The car maker has set a target of selling over 5K Mitsubishi Pajero SUVs in India and thus it will also be strengthening the production at the Hindustan Motor plant near Chennai in the country. Notably, the Japanese car giant has a slew of cars available in India and it basically represents the SUV and the sedan segment.
Currently the Pajero SUV is the best selling Mitsubishi car in the country and based on this enthusiastic response since its greater localization and price correction, the car maker wishes to make it more affordable and hence attain the target it has set for the SUV sales. This further attempt could make this SUV more Indianised and a price correction should be underway. Meanwhile, the new price will make this quite a worth buy in the segment as compared to other SUVs such as Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Captiva, Ford Endeavour and others such as Hyundai Santa Fe.
It is believed that the price correction will also accompany a lot of feature additions while the engine and transmission configurations will remain as is. Strong possibility is there that the Pajero will be borrowing some features from the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and this way it will be able to replenish the want of features it has currently. A worth addition could be an automatic transmission which could be a five speed one while on the inside as well there will be some of the most sought after gizmos all at the disposal of the car.
