Domestic car maker Mahindra and Mahindra has finally launched the keenly awaited Automatic trim of its highly acclaimed SUV generation next Scorpio in Indian car market with starting price of Rs. 13.13 lakh (ex-showroom price, Mumbai) for 2 WD version followed by 4WD version priced Rs. 14.32 lakh (ex-showroom price, Mumbai). The rumors regarding launch of automatic Scorpio got air at the time of generation next Scorpio, however at that time it was offered with manual gear transmission system.
The automatic Scorpio continues the same mHawk 2.2 litre, turbocharged four cylinder diesel engine churning the power of 122 PS and torque of 280 Nm. The six speed automatic transmission system offered in new Scorpio is miles ahead from the existing automatic transmission systems and is similar to one offered in SsangYong Tivole being offered in International market. Physically the Automatic Scorpio carries the same look as present in existing top S10 version of Scorpio, except the Automatic badge placed throughout the body.
Industry experts believe that with launch of automatic Scorpio and upcoming Hyundai Creta the SUV segment in Indian car market will get fire. Because at present only Scorpio in automatic version is offered with 2WD and 4WD driving options. It would be interested to witness the tough competition in segment.
