Country’s largest passenger car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki declared on Saturday that it would set up its plant in Gujarat. Meanwhile, chief minister of the state Narendra Modi was overjoyed with the decision and said that Gujarat’s auto sector growth will now speed up with Maruti’s intervention.

Gujarat’s revolutionary chief minister tweeted that he wholeheartedly welcomes company’s decision of setting up manufacturing plant in the state and that this will act as a booster in Gujarat’s aim of becoming Asia’s auto hub.

He further added that Maruti has gifted the state with a perfect present on the eve of Gujarat’s New Year. Sealing the decision, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) board sanctioned the purchase of land in Mehsana district for opening of its third plant in the country. Setting of new manufacturing unit is sure to pave way for ample of jobs in the state.

The news has not come as a surprise as Mr. Osamu Suzuki, Suzuki Motor Corporation Chairman had met Narendra Modi in September and announced that the company along with its vendors is ready to invest a hefty amount of Rs 18,000 crore in the developing Gujarat state.

MSI had requested Gujarat government for the allotment of total 1000 acres of land, in which 500 acre will be used for the plant while the rest for its vendors.

With the recent strikes at Maruti’s Manesar plant, the work of setting the facility at Gujarat paced up. Apart from this, company’s tremendous growth in the country and in export market made opening of a new plant need of the day.
