New 1.5 litre petrol engine unveiled by Honda

After showing up lots of details of its much awaited diesel engine, the Japanese car maker is ready with a very fuel efficient 1.5 litre of petrol engine. The new 1.5 litre four-cylinder petrol engine with direct injection technology was recently revealed by Honda India. This engine will be seen in the 2012 Honda Jazz and Honda city sedan. With this one, the fuel economy will take a toll and go up drastically and the performance will also go much higher on the graph. Apparently, the 1.5 litre petrol engine will keep the capacity to churn out peak power of 127BHP along with producing peak torque of 154Nm. When compared to the current 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol motor (118BHP-145Nm), the figures are certainly higher and better. Also, this engine will be coupled with an impressive CVT automatic transmission that will finally replace the standard five speed manual gearbox.

The new 1.5 litre petrol engine with direct injection technology is actually the part of Honda’s Earth Dreams series of engine, which has their focus point in better fuel economy and less CO2 emissions. So, apart from the direct injection, the engine will also get endowed with numerous with technological aspects, comprising of Mass EGR, 2-stage relief oil, High tumble port, patterned piston coating, low-tension piston rings, star-stop system and less weight of the engine.
While we are on the topic, Honda is also building up a small capacity turbo petrol mill, just like the 1.0 litre EcoBoost by Fiat for its future cars. However, the car maker hasn’t been open about this one, but hopefully; the official announcement for the small engine is just around the corner. Let us see when the company brings in this little engine to surprise its fans! For more updates, Stay Tuned!
