Indian can industry is no doubt in a crisis and every car maker is hoping that its new car models will bring the change. Renault has no doubt started with Renault Pulse and has recently launched its hoped-to-be volume puller SUV Renault Duster. Other car makers such as Mahindra hope bring in some mass activity with the upcoming Mahindra Verito compact sedan as well as the Mahindra Xylo Mini. Similarly, Maruti that has though done exceptionally well in June following the Monsoon offer in place and the Maruti Ertiga sales, hopes to bring the sheen back fully with the new Maruti 800cc car and other cars lined up this year.

Meanwhile, Ford is expecting a lot of activity on the sales chart with the Ford Ecosport SUV. Volkswagen on the other hand hopes to put up some greatest ever achievements in terms of sales with the Volkswagen Up! and Skoda Citigo small car. The story is the same with almost all the car makers including Chevrolet that is banking high on the upcoming Chevrolet Sail hatchback and sedan. Nissan is expecting bumper sales with the launch of Nissan Evalia MPV and Ashok Leyland Stile in the commercial vehicle segment. Meanwhile, Tata will be launching the new Safari avatar which is the Tata Safari Storme soon. Maruti also expects a sensation in the SUV segment with the launch of Maruti XA Alpha this Diwali or early next year.

Notably, following high petrol price and overall slump in the car buying sentiment has dampened car sales in India and this has affected car makers badly. Now the car industry eyes Diwali time which is the festival time in India to put the car sales back on track. Sensing the car buying spree during Diwali, almost all the car makers have deferred their car launches to this time.
