New cars in India: Diesel and UV cars dominated the year 2012

It’s time to bid good-bye to 2012, but not before going through the ten latest cars that were launched in the Indian car bazaar. The bazaar got all you could ask for, from hatchbacks, SUVs to MPVs and more. The most interesting thing there was the prices of these cars. Keeping the pocket of Indian consumers in mind, the car makers made sure that they price their products smartly and practically. 

Mini Cooper

On 5th April, BMW brought Mini Cooper range to India, which comprised of four models, including BMW Mini Cooper, Mini Cooper convertible, Mini Cooper S and Mini Cooper Countryman. These cars were launched with starting price of Rs. 24.9 lakh. The engine options here comprise of 1.6 litre petrol with power outputs of 122BHP and 184 BHP. 

Maruti Ertiga MPV

12th April was the ‘D Day’ for Maruti as it launched its first MPV, Maruti Ertiga. It was launched with a decent price tag of Rs. 5.89 lakh. The 1.2 litre petrol and 1.3 litre diesel options available with the car make it further more viable and practical. The compact size and immense comfort inside makes it consumer favorite. 

Audi Q5 SUV

The luxury Audi Q5 SUV was launched on 6th June with a hefty price tag of Rs. 41.24 lakh. The 2.0 litre diesel engine inside coupled with 7-speed S-Tronic transmission was the major highlights. Furthermore the cute looks along with high class posh comfort stole the show for Q5. 

Renault Duster SUV

Renault India came up with the anticipated Renault Duster SUV on 4th of July. The car began a runaway success as soon as it was launched in the country. The 1.6 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engine options serve the needs of consumers. The high class looks at a price of Rs. 7.49 lakh make this SUV furthermore exciting and thrilling. 

Renault Scala Sedan

Followed by Duster, Renault launched Renault Scala sedan on 7th September for a price tag of Rs. 6.99 lakh. The car is offered in 1.5 litre petrol and diesel engine options. The aggressive looks, refined handling, smart drivability and superb mileage figures make it very alluring and attractive. 

Mercedes Benz B Class MPV

On 18th September, Mercedes Benz kicked off the festive season with Mercedes Benz B Class MPV. It came up with a price point of Rs. 21.49 lakh, which is the smallest and cheapest one in the portfolio of Merc India. However, the car was rolled out only in petrol motor, but we hear that the diesel variant is in the pipeline and will be released very soon. 

Mahindra Quanto SUV

Mahindra and Mahindra didn’t waste time and rolled out its SUV, Mahindra Quanto on 20th September. The car was launched in four variants and is certainly a ‘Mini Xylo’ when you look at it. The superb mileage figures with high class driving capabilities made it quite a stunner for SUV fanatics here. The starting price of this one was Rs. 5.99 lakh. 

Nissan Evalia MPV

Nissan brought in the competition of Ertiga, Nissan Evalia MPV on 26th September. The rear sliding doors and fuel efficient 1.5 litre engine was the major highlights here. Nissan Evalia was launched with a price tag of Rs. 8.49 lakh. 

Mahindra Rexton SUV

Mahindra Rexton was launched on 17th October for a whooping price of Rs. 17.75 lakh. Impressive stance, high class performance and technologically sound interiors made it stand out in the crowd. 

Chevrolet Sail UVA Hatch

Last launch of 2012 was Chevrolet Sail UVA hatchback, which was rolled out on 2nd November. The car actually completed the voids that Maruti Swift was suffering from. The looks were the attractive point here, while the inspiring fuel economy figures made it awesome. The price tag attached to it was Rs. 4.44 lakh.
