The American auto maker, General Motors has tweaked the 2013 Chevrolet Spark (Beat in India). The facelift is minor with scanty changes in the hatchback. Beat, which is the lowest priced model from the stables of GM in the US auto market, has been bestowed with a new front end flaunting an array of changes. The new avatar of Beat also gets a new grille that is slightly smaller than the one which is affixed on the current version. The split bow tie design is still there on the new version of the hatchback, what’s new are the fog lamps and bumper. Among the new touch ups, the 14 and 15 inch new design alloy wheels along with an LED stop lamp mounted below the rear roof spoiler.

These are the prominent changes made in the hatchback; the rest of the car is expected to be the same as the current version. US bound Beat also gets two naturally aspirated petrol mills, one is the 1 litre 68 Bhp engine and the other one is the 1.2 litre 82 Bhp unit. The two engine are highly frugal. The Indian version of Beat is also proffered in a diesel avatar as the demand for diesel engined cars is extremely high in the domestic market. A downsized version of 1.3 litre Jet TurboDiesel (Multijet) engine which the car maker developed with Fiat is powering the Beat diesel in India. The stripped down version is the 936cc diesel motor with three cylinders that is equipped in Beat diesel.

This is claimed to be the most fuel economic diesel engine present in the Indian car market that delivers a fuel economy of 25 kmpl certified by ARAI. Indian auto market has also been bestowed with a LPG-petrol dual fuel version. Beat diesel and LPG account for a huge chunk of monthly sales, while the petrol version accounts for a scanty number of monthly sales of the hatchback. The three variants of Beat in India are equipped with a five speed manual transmission. The tweaked 2013 Chevrolet Beat will also be displayed at the 2012 Paris Motor Show that commences from today. The upgraded version of Beat is likely to go on sale from the end of the year in the US market, however it yet to be made clear whether India will get this version or not.
