Ssangyong, which is owned by Mahindra, is a South Korean Motor company. Recently, at the Busan Motor Show 2012, the company showcased its refurbished Mahindra Rexton SUV. The 2012 Rexton W SUV got a major facelift on the outside along with the engine that has been tweaked a bit to deliver high fuel efficiency. The new engine keeps its focus on churning out low torque to give out impressive drive-ability. The new engine inside 2012 Rexton W SUV is called e-XDi200 active turbo diesel engine that has a displacement of 1998cc.

The engine sports variable geometry turbocharger and CRDi system that helps the engine to churn out maximum power of 154 BHP along with 360 Nm of maximum torque at the rate of 1500 – 2800 rpm. From idle, this diesel engine produces 190 Nm torque that helps the car to get better drive-ability than ever.

The e-XDi200 active turbo diesel engine abides by the Euro V emission norms, which could be upgraded to Euro VI norms. Also, Ssangyong possess twin turbocharger variant of this diesel engine that produces 225 BHP of power and about 500 Nm of peak torque. However, the company has plans to make use of this engine in its high performance lavish saloon.

Getting back to Rexton, the newly revealed Ssangyong Mahindra Rexton W SUV looks terrific. The front of the SUV gets new bumper, restyled headlamps, refreshed grille and day time running lamps. On the other hand, the rear profile of the car has also been refurbished completely. The interiors feature high class material that has been used to make up the dashboard with a hint of chrome giving it a premium feel. The interiors have been made much comfy and better than previous model of the car, while the safety of the passengers has also been amplified substantially. The SUV will come with Active Roll over Protection, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, smart key system, ESP, Ultrasonic Warning System, rain sensing wipers and Eco cruise control.

So far the exact launch date of Rexton W SUV is unknown, but it is quite hopeful that we would see this SUV in the Korean car market by the month of June this year. With the launch, the pricing details will also be revealed. However, one thing is unsure as whether Mahindra will bring in Rexton W SUV in India or not.
