The SUV maker Mahindra is soon to give a facelift to its superior SUV Mahindra Scorpio. The Scorpio SUV was first launched in 2002 and it is now a decade old. Though it has various facelifts en route but this will be the most comprehensive makeover of the SUV. It is expected that the new Mahindra Scorpio will be creating new sensation in the market as it did when it was launched in 2002. Also, with the facelift in, it will be able to sell well again. All through Scorpio has been maintaining sales and has been the closest rival of Tata Safari and other SUVs in India.

It is expected that just as Tata is in the process of launching the new avatar of Safari as Tata Safari Storme in July, so Mahindra will launch the newly designed Scorpio soon. As per an estimate around 4 lakh units of Scorpio have been sold till date in the past 10 years. Though there is no official word on the changes awaited from Mahindra but the industry believes that the new Scorpio will have many new additions to make it upbeat with the current generation SUVs. Also a makeover is quite expected when compact SUVs such as Renault Duster and Ford Ecosport are underway and most importantly Maruti XA Alpha is coming next year. It is expected that these three SUVs will eat away a lot of share of Tata Safari and Mahindra SUVs.

A lot of new features both on the outside as well as inside the car are expected and among these is the Mahindra XUV 500 like monocoque body with exterior upgrades as well. On the engine department, the new Scorpio will have a more powerful motor that will have better fuel efficiency rating. Besides, the third row passengers will have more leg room inside. A step up of interior looks and connectivity options will also be there besides a digital interface inside.
