The new Mahindra Xylo launch has been the talk of the town recently and it is the news maker today. With the launch of the new Mahindra Xylo at a start price of Rs 7.37 lakh, it seems that Mahindra has decided to sweep the MUV segment in its favor. The start price is lower than the outgoing model however the top end version which is the new Mahindra Xylo E9 that has cruise control and dual AC carries a price tag of Rs 10.25 which is Rs 15,000 more than the high end variant E8. With the new Mahindra Xylo already in, reports are coming in that the five door mini avatar which is Mahindra Xylo Mini is nearing its launch in coming days.  
 

Now Xylo has five variants. The new Xylo D2 and new Xylo D4 priced at Rs 7.37 lakh and Rs 7.77 lakh respectively are powered by 95 bhp 2.5litres mDI engine. On the other hand new Xylo E4 and new Xylo E8 have the improved 2.5 litres mEagle engine that produces 112bhp and 260Nm. While the new Xylo E9 has got the 2.2L 120PS mHawk engine sourced from Mahindra Scorpio. Where the company projects D2 and D4 to aim at commercial takers, the E4, E8 and E9 will be there for passenger vehicle segment.

 The mid career facelift of the Mahindra Xylo is set right with the help of new headlamps, new bumper design, a all new XUV 500 inspired bonnet and grille besides new tail lamps and blacked out A, B and C pillar that has further infused sportiness to the MUV. The significant addition of Mahindra Scorpio sourced mHawk engine in the Mahindra Xylo E9 variant is hoped to imbibe the new Xylo with power and performance.   

With the new Xylo becoming more stylish and attractive just like its SUV Mahindra XV 500, it will be able to better compete with the other MUV offerings in India such as Toyota Innova, Chevrolet Tavera ICML Rhino besides Tata Grande. Notably, Chevrolet has launched the Neo 3 version on Tuesday just a day before the new Xylo launch. However, experts believe that Mahindra Xylo has its own clientele since 2009 and its takers will opt for the new Xylo despite of many similar offerings.

The new Xylo features include cross section tubeless tyres and roof rails besides electric operated ORVMs. A rear spoiler along with the front and rear fog lamps further the sporty nature of new Xylo. Thus with the mHawk 2.2L CRDe engine, the new Xylo is none the less than a SUV in MUV avatar. Only missing is the four wheel drive option that was greatly anticipated recently.

On the inside, the new Xylo has cruise control and audio controls on the E9 variant, leather seats and theater effect lighting inside. On the safety front, the new Xylo has parking assist, engine immobilizer to keep it safe and Anti-lock Braking and Electronic brake distribution for better braking besides dual airbags at the front to keep the driver and the passenger safe. In addition to it, the new Xylo also has voice commands like the new Ford Fiesta along with 2 DIN audio that has controls on the steering as well.
