New Skoda Octavia engine and mileage details emerge ahead of its launch

The 2013 Skoda Octavia is creating much sensation prior to its launch in Europe this new year. Recently, further details and specifications of new engine line up of the new Octavia have come up and looking at it seems that this car will have a significant contribution in realizing its parent Volkswagen’s vision 2018. The Octavia sedan is known as Skoda Laura in India and soon after the world debut, the new car will arrive in here as well. However, the new Octavia launch in India date is yet to be finalized but experts believe that it could be sometime in the mid next year.  



As per the details and specifications, the new Octavia with its extension in dimensions and weight lose has grown more powerful. The new MQB platform has transformed this Skoda car. Where the new car weighs 225 pounds less than the outgoing model, it has also become more environment conscious. The new engine line up that is the VW EA211 have not only help shed 22 kgs off the new Octavia, these have added more power and imbibed top notch performance in the car’s genes. The petrol engine range starts with the 1.2 L TSi that outputs 84 bhp and has a mileage of 19.23 kmpl while the Greentec variant returns 20.40 kmpl with ultra low CO2 emissions. There is also the 1.4 TSi Greentec with 138 hp and a fuel efficiency of 18.86 kmpl. There is another 1.2 L petrol motor with 103 hp and 20.40 kmpl mileage.

There is another 1.4 L TSi petrol motor that pumps 138 hp that also has more than 18 kmpl mileage and much less CO2 emission. Another more powerful petrol engine option is the 1.8 L TSi with 177hp. The diesel line up includes a range of 103hp, 109hp, 148hp engines and the most fuel efficient is the 89 hp 1.6 L TDi engine that returns 24.39 kmpl mileage. It is this 89 hp diesel engine powered variant that is expected to arrive in India along with other variants.
