New Swift Sports now in South Africa
New Swift Sports is based on MY2011 Swift
Most of the auto markets across the globe have Maruti Swift Sport, however the Indian car market is still waiting for this hatch. The hatch is running on the roads of Europe and Australia, the latest car market to get this hatch is South Africa. Though Swift Sport was already present in South Africa it is just that the new version of Swift Sport will now be launched in South Africa. The revamped Swift Sport is based on the MY2011 Swift.

The new Swift Sports has a broad track with a brand new body kit. It also dons a 17 inch alloy wheels, a deep front grille, bi-xenon headlamps and blacked out A and B pillars. Apart from these features the new version of Swift sports also sports a wide dual exhaust tips, a composite-look rear diffuser. However, on the interior front the car now comes with a massively bolstered front sports seats, steering wheel wrapped with soft leather, start-stop button, sports alloy pedals and sports gear shifter.

Despite being loaded with more equipment the facelift model of Swift Sports is 30kg lighter than its antecedent resulting in enhanced handling and fuel economy. Under the hood will reside a 1.6 litre M16A motor that can produce 135 Hp of maximum power and a peak torque of 160 Nm. However, the South Africa bound Swift Sports will not get the seven speed CVT gearbox it will instead be equipped with a six speed close-ratio manual transmission. The revised version can propel from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.7 seconds which is less than the previous model. The hatch can achieve top speed of 195 km/h.
Swift Sport is up for sale at a price of 213,900 rand which equals to Rs 14 lakh. Only a small fragment of the market prefers petrol powered cars and there is no requirement for a Swift Sport diesel since the demand for MJD variants is on an all time high and the factory is not able to manufacture enough units. Maruti Suzuki on the other hand can bestow a 1.4 litre K Series mill on the Swift that has a perfect blend of fuel economy and performance on the petrol version.
