New Toyota Camry 2012 to come powered by 2.5 Litre petrol inline
Toyota Kirloskar, the subsidiary unity of Toyota Motors in India is now looking forward to introduce the 7th generation Toyota Camry luxury saloon on the domestic shores. The all new upcoming 2012 Camry will be inspired from its European spec models that are more advanced than its US specs siblings. This seventh generation Camry has been making good number of sales globally, however the Indian market had not yet witnessed its charm. The new Camry will be assembled in India through the CKD at Toyota’s facility near Bangalore rather than importing it through CBU.

The company’s idea of doing these reformations could be to low down the price of Camry in the Indian market and to make it more competitive in its segment. The 2012 Camry will be equipped with a 2.5 litre, 4 - cylinder petrol inline which will have calibre to toss peak power of 178 bhp. Moreover, this engine will be aspirated naturally and will also feature variable valve timing. Added to this, the engine would be mated by a 6 – speed Manual transmission that will also have the overdrive feature for easy drive on highways. The overdrive feature will also allow the car to maximise its fuel efficiency, thereby enabling it to run at low rpm rate.

Globally, the auto-giant, Toyota sells Camry with a 3.5 litre engine, however this engine would not be introduced in the Indian market as the petrol price is very high in comparison to diesel and also the fuel efficiency from this 3.5 L engine is not much appreciable. Camry is not offered with a diesel engine, however its lavish comforts and drivability make it stand apart from the crowd. In the Indian auto-market, Camry’s major rivals are Hyundai Sonata Fluidic and Honda Accord that are also available only in petrol variants.

However, other rivals like Skoda Superb and Volkswagen Passat are offered in the turbo-diesel in-lines and they sell more than the above mentioned saloons. This time the car maker will ensure that they price new Camry quite competitive so as to sell more than its forerunners. It is commendable that Toyota has finally given heed to commence the production of 2012 Camry by CKD and it will be icing on the cake if it gets cheaper in cost.

I recently came to know that Camry is India’s third longest vehicle next to Accord and Superb as per Autocar magazine and is a great thing in itself. After sales service of Toyota is good but sometimes I really need to work hard to make them understand the concern areas but overall I never faced any difficulties.

| Edit ReplyToyota always served its customers with excellent services. It's good that Camry is coming with 2.5L petrol powered engine but the price tag is too high.
