Toyota Motors will be launching its most fuel efficient small vehicle New Toyota Prius tomorrow at the 2012 Auto Expo. The hybrid hatchback saw it’s launched earlier this week in Japan. The car will be known as ‘Toyota Prius C’ outside Japan and is a superb combination of petrol-electric. The Toyota Prius comes packed with a 1.5L petrol engine that is capable to produce around 72 bhp of power that is assisted by an amazing 60 bhp from the electric motor. The hybrid car is expected to be priced around INR 36 Lakh. The car competes with Nissan Leaf that will also be showcased by Nissan Motors at the exposition. The Prius was first unveiled in India at the last Auto Expo.

With this frugal power-train the Prius can achieve a mileage of 35 kmpl. The 0-100 kmph speed is scaled in below 11 seconds. The car breaks the earlier record of 32 kmpl achieved by another Toyota Prius that was larger than the existing. The electric motor runs on the advanced nickel-metal hydride battery.
