Nissan Evalia in India is gradually getting popularity in the country with its big size, large space inside and most importantly 18.9 kmpl mileage. After Toyota Innova, India needed a big family car and Mahindra Xylo, Chevrolet Tavera and others have failed to impress and then Evalia came in. Though the car is still struggling and could not get the much expected numbers initially but its sales pace is upwards and it seems that the car will be able to make a decent space for itself in the near future.
The car is priced at Rs 8.49 lakh in India and is considered to be among high mileage family cars in India. As per a recent update, the electric version of the car will be unveiled at the 13th annual Commercial Vehicle Show in April 2013. It is here that Nissan will be showcasing the NV200 highly fuel efficient variants of this van. Already the car is one of the most sought after vans in Europe and its popularity equals in US as well. The electric version of the car is eNV200 and this car will have zero emissions. The car will house an engine based on Nissan Leaf car. At the motor show, Nissan will be showcasing the concept model of the electric Evalia.
Production of this electric car is expected to start next year and there are no plans of a launch in India. The car will be launched in Europe. Meanwhile, the taxi version of the Evalia is a hit in London. The car has 1.5 L dCi engine under the hood that has a maximum power of 89 bhp and the engine is tuned with a six speed gearbox. It is believed that the electric version of the car will be able to set in motion much enthusiasm as there is a growing demand for alternatively fueled cars.
