Nissan Sunny and Micra Automatic in the making
In wake of acquiring 10 per cent share in the Indian car market the company is mulling over inducting the automatic variant of its hatchback Nissan Micra and Nissan Sunny sedan. Apart from the auto variantsof Micra and Sunny the company will also induct a compact SUV in India. Mr. Toshiyuki Shiga, the Chief Operating Officer of Nissan made the official announcement regarding the launch of the upcoming cars (Micra and Sunny CVT). He said that the CVT Micra is going to be more frugal as it will come equipped with a fuel efficient engine. However, the company officials did not hint as to when the AT variants of Micra and Sunny will be launched. Nissan and Renault which are global partners, have built a common manufacturing unit at Oragadam which has a annual manufacturing capacity of 4 lakhs.
The company currently has only 1.6 per cent share in the Indian car market which is eyes to increase to 10 per cent by 2016. Nissan had until now sold 12,000 units of CVT affixed models across the globe which it aims to spur to 20,000 units by 2016.Nissan plans to launch the AT variants of Micra and Sunny before company’s low cost brand Datsun’s launch in India which is slated for 2014. By 2016 Nissan plans to spread its dealership numbers to 300.
