Renault Duster SUV is finally in at a start price of Rs 7.19 lakh for the entry level petrol model and Rs 7.99 lakh for the entry level diesel version and this has created commotion in the SUV segment in India. Now as per the already present reports and the industry expectations, Renault seems to be all set to bring in the Renault Scala sedan that is based on Nissan Sunny soon in India. This sedan will be the rebadged version of Sunny sedan and it is expected to be priced much below the Renault Fluence sedan in India. As per the confirmed reports, the Renault Sedan will be launched by Diwali this year. Notably the Duster has received over 4000 bookings even before the launch and the new booking information about Duster will come soon.

Sensing the enthusiasm at the Duster launch and the 4000 unit pre bookings, Ford and Maruti must have stepped up their efforts to launch the Ford Ecosport and Maruti XA Alpha SUVs in India. Meanwhile, Toyota, General Motors and Fiat are also brewing plans to pitch in some SUV in India. The Scala sedan on the other hand is expected to be launched in diesel and petrol options and will take a price tag that will make is cheaper than the Fluence which is considered to be over priced.

The Duster and the forthcoming Nissan Sunny based Renault’s sedan are very important products for the French car maker as it has seen little better than brand makeup with the Fluence and Koleos and had some sales pick up with the Renault Pulse hatchback. Now the car maker wishes to make India as the touchstone of its global success. Even during the Renault Duster launch as well, Marc Nassif, managing director, Renault India has clearly indicated that India is a major market for the car maker and its success in here will decide its global success.
