Nissan Sunny Diesel powers May sales
A nearly 100 percent growth was observed in Nissan sales for the month of May’2012 compared to the same period last year. The Japan based company sold 3138 vehicles last month in comparison to 1588 vehicles in May’ 2011. This has resulted in an overall increase of 98 percent on the basis of year on year analysis. This time again the major contributor has been company’s famous models Nissan Sunny sedan and Nissan Micra hatchback.

Since the launch of Nissan Sunny in the Indian automotive market, the sales numbers has always seen an upward trend every passing month, up till now a total of 18753 Sunnys have been sold, which comprise of petrol as well as diesel variants. Here the key driving factor has been sales of Nissan Sunny Diesel models that are going strong each month.

According to Mr Nitish Tipnis, the sales head of Hover Automotive India (HAI) that works as sales partner for Nissan India, the overall market growth has been slow, but still the company sees India as potential market. The customer centric services of Nissan continues to prosper as it has enlarged its dealership network, seen significant growth in terms of sales and has expanded its product range.

Nissan Motors MD Mr. Ishida Takayuki stated that although the market continues to fluctuate, which is mainly due to soaring fuel prices but Nissan has been posting some decent sales figures due to variety of products in the listing. He was confident that sales will get a bigger boost after the launch of Nissan Evalia MPV together with debut of Datsun brand in India in 2014.
