Nissan Sunny to be launched on 20th Sept, more specification details emerge

Nissan Sunny, one of the most awaited entry level sedans in the Indian market, is speculated to be launched in the country on 20th September, 2011. The Nissan Sunny model will mark company’s entry into the starting range sedan segment, where it will be competing with the likes of Ford Fiesta, Maruti SX4, Toyota Etios, Volkswagen Vento, Honda City, etc. The car is based on V platform of the Nissan-Renault’s global joint venture.
The Nissan Sunny model will be rolled-out in the Indian market with a different name as a few vehicles named Sunny have already launched in the country by other car makers such as 50 CC Sunny moped. The Nissan Sunny has already been launched in the Chinese market, where it is receiving an overwhelming response from the buyers.

In India, the Nissan Sunny sedan will be manufactured at the Oragadam plant of the company near Chennai. Powered by a 1.5 Liter petrol engine, the Nissan Sunny is capable of delivering a peak power of 99 bhp along with a peak torque of 134 Nm. Initially, the Sunny sedan will be rolled-out in a petrol version only, which will possibly be followed by a diesel version after a few months.

The USP of the Nissan Sunny is its exceptional mileage of 16.95 KMPL, which is higher as compared to the fuel economy of the most of other car models of this segment. The car will be rolled-out in three variants including XE, XL and XV. The major attractions of the new Sunny model include a push button Start, driver and passenger airbags and automatic climate control.

Though the company is yet to announce the pricing and feature details of the India bound Nisan Sunny, it is expected that the car will be launched in the price range of Rs 7 to 8 lakh. More details of the Indian version of Nissan Sunny sedan will soon be announced by the company.
