Peugeot 301 unveiled, India launch likely
French car maker Peugeot has unveiled the Peugeot 301 sedan on Friday which has been designed and created with an aim to target the developing markets of the world. The European PSA Peugeot Citroen subsidiary is believed to be launched in India as well. However, in the light of the present rise in petrol prices it is expected that the sedan will only be launched in the diesel version. The Peugeot 301 price in India is still unclear as the car maker is still to open its cards about the line up as well as the range of cars it will launch in India.
At the New Delhi Auto Expo held in January this year the French car maker has expressed its reentry plans in India in the car segment. There at the Auto show, it unveiled the Peugeot RCZ and Peugeot 508. The later is believed to compete with Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Passat, and Skoda Superb and is believed to be priced around Rs 23-24 lakh. The Peugeot 301 is believed to compete with similar players in the premium sedan segment.
The 301 sedan is believed to make a world premier at the upcoming Paris Motor Show to be held in September this year and then onwards, the series of launches is believed to start by November and then the world including India is on the cards. Sensing a great market in East, its homeland Europe, Russia and Africa besides Asia, the car is believed to be one of the most prospective cars from the brand and Peugeot seems to be banking on it great deal. Auto industry experts believe that Peugeot’s entry in the country will begin with a sedan just as its French friend Renault entered India with Renault Fluence and later it will be launching hatchback and other cars.
