Renault Duster and Fluence Sedan for Military Police Duty in Brazil

Renault Duster or Dacia Duster as known in other parts of the world has been doing quite well amongst the consumers. Now, the Brazilian Military Police have ordered about 670 Duster SUVs and covered them into their patrol cars. The SUVs have been repainted and altered according to their needs. Besides Duster, even Renault Fluence sedans, approximately 150 of them have been turned into patrol cars in Brazil. Since the time Duster was launched in Brazil, the car was enjoying the top most position in the car market. But after the entry of Ford EcoSport there, it had to slip down to the second position. Apart from the sporty and smart looks, Brazilian Military Police have opted Duster to be their patrol cars because of its other features as well. This SUV is available in petrol and petrol-ethanol engine options.

However, in India, the car is sold in petrol and diesel options. The petrol variant of the car is not as popular as the diesel one in the Indian car bazaar. The Renault Duster Diesel comes with 1.5-Litre K9K turbo diesel engine that has two tunes, one giving out 85BHP of power and 200Nm of torque, while the other one churns out 110BHP of power and 240Nm of torque. The 85BHP model has been coupled with the standard 5-speed manual transmission, whereas the 110BHP model has six-speed manual transmission.

Right now in India, Duster has been doing a pretty great business. And keeping up these amazing sales figures, the company is planning to introduce the 4x4 variant of Duster in the Indian car bazaar. The exact launch date hasn’t been fixed yet, but if reports are to be believed it might arrive in India during the month of March this year.
