Renault enters Indian Motorsport, unveils championship car
Renault India today revealed the Renault team car for the MRF challenge at an event which was held at Greater Noida. Jon LANCASTER and Alice POWELL will be driving the two Renault team cars. The company has been sealed as the official engine supplier for the 2012 MRF Challenge, all the 20 cars which will be running in the championship will be armed with the 2-litre engines pumping out 210PS of peak power.
The 16-valve, four pot engine comes with a displacement of 1998cc, these F4R832 engines developed by Renault Sport in its native place France. The 1998cc engine engenders a high power of 210PS at 6500 RPM and peak torque of 220 Nm at 5500 Rpm. The Championship commences today that is October 26, 2012 and will last until February 10, 2013 in New Delhi and Chennai.
Expressing his thoughts at the event, Mr. Marc Nassif, the Managing Director of Renault India said that the bond between Motor Racing and Renault is over 35 years old and Renault has developed some of the finest engines which reflect company’s promise towards quality and innovation. Lucky winners of the contest ‘Ticket to Formula 1’ and some of the members of the media got to experience the thrill of motor racing as the ace driver Mark Webber took them on a round around the track in Renault Pulse and Renault Scala.

Renault Scala, Renault Pulse, Renault Fluence and Renault Duster come housed with a Renault K9K engine, which is developed on the RS27 F1 engine. The Renault K9K engine is built for day to day use; it is a frugal and delivers a good performance. Including the last year’s winning team, Red Bull Racing and three other teams are powered by the Renault RS27 engine, the company until now has won nine drivers’ and 10 constructors’.
