Renault sales rise 10-fold, thanks to Duster, Scala
Renault Duster did it all through and it did it yet again in February resulting in a more than 10 fold increase in sales in the said month as compared to the same month in 2012. Meanwhile, other cars such as Renault Scala, Renault Pulse and Fluence sedan have also contributed well in the sales. Total unit sales by the car maker last month stood at 6723 units. In the same month last year, the car maker sold as low as 673 cars only but at that time it had very few cars in its portfolio. It is believed that such a success is not one of a kind as it is the first year of the performance of the French car maker and it is this year that will be its real test year.
The Duster has done well leading to sales of over 5590 units and it has become the largest selling Renault car in the country. The second best selling car in the stable is Scala which is a rebadged avatar of the Nissan Sunny sedan. The Nissan Micra remake Pulse too got good going and it too got 420 unit sales in the last month. In all the performance of the car giant has been a success story and it seems that the car maker will continue with it in the near future as well. The rumored upcoming Renault cars such as Renault Lodgy MPV is expected to be pitched in a segment that is hot and Maruti Ertiga is solely enjoying the boom. As soon as Lodgy comes in, it is expected that just as Duster has gained response so will the new MPV will get response.
The growth attained by Renault is also a reflection that how well India has received it after it severed its ties with Mahindra and went on to a maiden journey. Auto industry analysts believe that it is the most aggressive strategy by the car maker that has done well along with one after the other highly lucrative offerings. Thus if the trend continues, which will in fact, the car maker will be able to at least get more growth in less time.
