Rexton and Korando to be inducted in South Korean defense

The Mahindra Rexton has already arrived and giving Toyota Fortuner and the Chevrolet Captiva a tough fight. Now as per the latest updates, the Rexton parent Ssangyong is preparing the Rexton and the Mahindra Korando SUVs for the defense services in South Korea. Notably, Ssangyong is a South Korean car maker and its main stake is owned by Indian SUV maker Mahindra. Just as Mahindra supplies Thar, Bolero and other cars to Indian defense, so will Ssangyong will sell the Rexton and Korando to the South Korean defense services.

The Korean defense department will soon be commissioning the two SUVs and it is expected that following their sturdy nature and relentless performance, these two will be able to emerge as best for the purpose. As per the reports, the Korean department of defense will be deputing these SUVs to various law and order maintenance tasks. Reports further disclose that these have been selected based on various tests and procedures including certifications. It is reportedly known that these two have passed all the tests and it is after these initial tests that the department has asked the company to provide these cars to them.

Initially over 350 units of Korando C and Korando Sport and Rexton W will be provided to the defense department and based on the performance, further order will be given. The department has also asked Ssangyong to make certain changes with the introduction of features including driver and passenger air bags, a powerful heating and cooling system along with a system to detect any front obstacles. All these features will be provided as part of the standard equipment. With South Korean government inducting Ssangyong vehicles, it is expected that Mahindra could also push induction of these in the Indian defense.

Recently I have the Mahindra Rexton and it looks like Ford Endeavour luxury SUV. But my vote goes to XUV 500 that comes at affordable price and appears like high-end luxury SUVs.
