Rolls Royce Phantom Series II unveiled at Geneva Motor Show

The high end premium luxury car maker Rolls Royce has revealed the new Phantom Series II at the ongoing Geneva Motors Show. It is to be mentioned here that this is the first ever major upgrade in the Rolls-Royce Phantom model since its introduction in the global market in year 2003. All upgrades of Phantom Series II have been made in all four type of models of previous Phantom Series including Saloon, drophead, Coupe and extended wheelbase saloon.  

The new Rolls Royce Phantom Series II carries a number of subtle changes including both cosmetic and technological upgrades. The major changes in the new Phantom include an all new 8 speed automatic transmission gearbox, an overhauled electronic system inside and a new rear differential.

Also, Phantom Series II will be carrying standard full LED headlamps, which makes it first ever production version of a car that carries such feature. These headlamps are capable of changing the intensity of the light as per changes in speed along with having a cornering capability. The other exterior changes include new rectangular light aperture along with a newly styled bumper.

Though the existing six-speed transmission has been replaced by new 8 speed automatic transmission, the engine unit will remain unchanged. The Phantom Series II will continue to come powered by a 6.7L V12 engine that generates a peak powered of 453 bhp.

In the words of Rolls Royce Chief of design, Mr. Ian Cameron, the styling changes made in the new Phantom Series II carry a familiar theme lit in a different way. The company will roll-out first models of new Phantom Series II by the month of June 2012, and is expected to raise the price of this series by about five percent as compared to the price of previous generation model.
