Ruled out: Maruti Suzuki will not shut down car production at Gurgaon plant
The Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has denied of recent media reports that it is planning to shift its entire car manufacturing operations to the upcoming Gujarat plant from Gurgaon. While announcing to establish an all new diesel engine manufacturing plant in Gurgaon on Saturday, the senior officials of the company clarified that media people have misinterpreted the comments of the firm, as the company have no plans to shut down car manufacturing at its Gurgaon and Manesar based plant.

It is to be mentioned here that the recent media reports in the country had claimed that the country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is planning to shift their car manufacturing operations to their upcoming plant in Gujarat, making the Gurgaon and Manesar plants its engine and other components manufacturing hub. The reason that was claimed in these reports was lack of expansion space at these plants. The company manufactures Maruti Swift, Maruti Swift Dzire in both the engine trims viz. petrol and diesel.

While further reiterating the company’s stand on the reports, the company stated that has no plan whatsoever to stop production of cars at the Gurgaon and Manesar plants. The statement adds that in a bid to pave way for the engine manufacturing operation at its Gurgaon plant, the company is planning to reduce the car production at this plant. However, the production at the Manesar plant will continue to be increased and company will soon be setting-up third plant there with a capacity of 2.5 lakh units per annum.
