Skoda Citigo; a small car, that every City should really Go for it
Skoda the automobile manufacturer from Czech Republic is looking to spread its wings far, deep and wide in India. The company is expected to launch the small car Skoda Citigo in the country. The small car will be the entry level car in the Skoda stable. The vehicle was scheduled for the launch in the European auto sector but sighting the obsession among the India car buyers for the small car, the company had to revise its strategy. Earlier the launch of its first hatchback Skoda Fabia seemed a bit promising in the initial stage but failed to pick up the desired sales figures later.
The small car buyers in India are basically the ones who currently own a two-wheeler and have a desire to advance from their existing mode of transportation. The subsequent consumer will be one who already possess a four-wheeler with some depressed age-old exteriors, ailing interiors and moreover a frustrated engine. And he wishes to soar along with the current trend of chic compact city-car with loads of latest features fitted in it, starting from a decent mileage to adequate safety elements.
The Skoda Citigo will be compact in size but will carry the current industry fashion of ‘tall and wide body’; it will be spacious enough to occupy a family of four.

In Indian auto market currently the small cars share 70 percent of the total traffic and are expected to grow more in the times to follow. Looking at the prosperous future ahead in the compact car segment each automobile company existing in India plans to have a budget oriented small car in its kitty. But the requirement of a decent quality compact car will always be felt in the herd; hence one can count on the premium manufacturers like Skoda. Of course, the company being a part of the elite Volkswagen Group will not prove distressing to the small car lovers.
The Skoda should price its upcoming compact vehicle in the range of INR 3.5 Lakhs to 4.5 Lakhs, because this price tag of below INR 5 Lakhs grabs the attention of the people in India. The incredible and strong prospect in this segment can be measured with Volkswagen Group individually coming up with three compact cars within its own group, first to name is Volkswagen Up, and another is its Spanish subsidiary SEAT’s Mii and lastly Skoda Citigo. Hence one can imagine the preparedness of the group which will not let any consumer move out of its stable in search of more diversity.
