Skoda Fabia, 13 years, 2 generations and 3 million cars worldwide

Small premium hatchback car Skoda Fabia from the Czech car maker has recently attained the worldwide production of three million cars. As per media reports, the three millionth Fabia was rolled out of the Boleslav factory in Czech Republic last week. However, the Maruti Swift and Ford Figo rival could not sustain inspiring sales in India and thus it can be expected that India Skoda Fabia sales have little contribution to the overall global sales.

The Skoda Fabia hatch belongs to the premium hatchback car segment where it competes head on with segment leader Swift, American car Ford Figo and late entrants such as Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Fiat Punto and others. However, the basic thing that has helped Fabia gain volumes along with the Skoda Rapid sedan is its classy interiors and overall looks. Skoda Fabia reviews, road tests and subsequently user reviews have all indicated a greater degree of satisfaction with respect to the performance of the engine, comfort driving and the features inside.

Now that the worldwide production figure of Fabia has reached three million, it is more than a time for celebration for the Czech car maker. As per sources information, the three millionth Fabia was a Greenline car that is known to deliver exceptional mileage and incredibly low emissions. Skoda too showcased this Fabia Greenline in India around two year ago and it is an upcoming Skoda car in India. In production since 1999, Fabia is now over 13 years old. Interestingly, en route its success, the car has received facelift only twice and is currently in the second generation. The most recent facelift was some time ago. Notably, the Skoda hatch accounts a quarter of the total sales of car by Skoda and is sold in over hundred countries. Meanwhile, amid this celebration there are reports the Skoda mulls over a new Fabia that will be based on VW’s MQB platform and will be part of the cost cutting strategy by the German parent.
