Skoda India plans big, 2 SUVs, 2 MPVs in the next 5 yrs
Unbelievable but true; Skoda India has really big plans for India. With the launch of all for India and made for India product - Skoda Rapid, the Czech carmaker has set its road ahead in India right. Well, why not? When Rapid has bagged 1600 orders in just the first month of its launch. This shows the trust India has shown in Skoda. And Skoda seems to be reciprocating it with an aggressive future plan for one of the Asia’s biggest car market-India. Let us see what all Skoda has in its box for India.
Though Skoda had to recede in its partnership with Suzuki, it has now taken vow to take care of its parent Volkswagen’s small car plans for the global car market. In addition to it, Skoda is said to set up a new centre in India that will be producing budget cars for India where low cost is everything. This centre will also develop a new low cost engine that will be used in future cars for India and worldwide.

The new Skoda plans are hoped to start taking shape and show some results starting 2012. As part of its strategy specifically for India, China and Russia, the VW subsidiary will be bringing in a saloon version of its recently launched Skoda Rapid. Besides, there will also be a saloon replacement for Skoda Octavia. Apart from this, Skoda Yeti is all set to get a new look and Skoda Citigo is round the corner.

In 2013, auto industry will see a new car Skoda Rapid Spaceback along with a replacement for Octavia and a saloon version of Skoda Superb. Year 2014 can be called a year dedicated to hatchbacks and MPVs as we can see a new Skoda Fabia underway along with Skoda Roomster and Citigo. Come 2015 and there will be replacements for Superb and Yeti SUV. The next year in 2015, one can find Skoda bringing in a new larger SUV and facelift versions of Roomster MPV, Rapid and Citigo. Apart from this, Skoda will be building its all new cars on the MQB platform that is also supposed to be the basis of its parent company cars.
