Skoda Octavia production begins at Czech plant, India launch in late 2013
The Czech car maker has begun the production of the 2013 Skoda Octavia at the Mladá Boleslav plant. The Europe launch is slated sometime next month. Octavia, also known as the Skoda Laura in India is a premium sedan and is one of the best selling sedans in its segment. This new car has some resemblances derived from Europe based Skoda Rapid but being the new model the car is different from it. As per the sources information, the new Octavia is a little longer and more spacious than the outgoing model. In addition to this the car has also improved on its looks a lot and it has now one of the most appealing looks in its segment as per a recent survey.
It is also said that the plant at Mladá Boleslav has also been updated both technologically as well as from modernization aspect and it is now one of the best manufacturing plants. The new Octavia is being produced there and it will be meeting the domestic as well as export demands. The expansion of the plant was necessitated because of the addition production capacity of the Octavia. It is here that a production capacity expansion of over 400 units daily has been made. This is a major addition as now the daily output capacity of the plant has reached to 1200 units.
In India, the car is known as Laura and is a prime rival of Honda Civic

price in India is Rs 12.90 lakh and it is believed that India will also get the refreshed version soon. As per the experts opinion, the new Octavia (Laura) will be launched in India sometime in the fourth quarter of the year.
