Skoda Rapid launched in Nepal

It is sure that car makers are desperately seeking other avenues after they have found Indian car market behaving erratically. Czech car maker Skoda has also sought new markets and it is Nepal. The car maker has launched its India made Skoda Rapid sedan in Nepal in a hope that it will be able to meet the sales targets it has set for this year. Meanwhile, the festive season buying is yet to pick up but initial indications of booking and queries about cars are on the rise. It is said that this Diwali will see record buying of cars but some people still doubt this proposition.

The Skoda Rapid is a car that the car maker has exclusively made entirely for India keeping in mind the daily commuting, comfort and convenience needs of the Indian masses. The car which was launched at the ongoing Nepal Auto Show has taken a price tag of an Indian rupee equivalent Rs 18.68 lakh to Rs 23 lakh. The high price is following the high excise duty that the government of Nepal imposes on the cars imported in China. The petrol model of the car has been launched in Nepal and it is expected that this way the car maker will be able to curb the rising input cost in producing the Rapid petrol models. Notably, after the increase in the price of petrol, there has been a drastic fall in the price of petrol cars and sales of all petrol cars are deeply affected.

Even the rivals of Rapid, such as Toyota Etios petrol, Maruti Swift Dzire petrol and other cars in the segment have seen a rapid decline. While the demand for the diesel models of these cars is on the rise. It is expected that the Rapid launch in Nepal will be able to compensate some of the loss to the car maker following the high price of petrol and the commensurate low demand for petrol cars in India. The car will be exported to Nepal in the Completely Built Unit form.
