Skoda Rapid projected to be rolled out next month; promos say coming soon
It appears that Skoda is very close to launch its most awaited creation in the Indian automotive sector, the Skoda Rapid sedan. As these days, the promos of anticipated vehicle are seen on internet and television, which states that it’s coming soon. Earlier, the wholly owned subsidiary of parent Volkswagen Group; Skoda Auto, has announced the commencement of production at its Chakan based plant in Pune in the first week of this month.
According to trusted sources the launch of Skoda Rapid will happen at any time in November, maybe first week. The car which is developed keeping in mind the need of Indian consumers and Indian conditions, will be introduced first in the country before getting unveiled worldwide. The entry level sedan in the Skoda stable is expected to be retailed at INR 7 Lakhs for the base variant of petrol.
The official preview doesn’t reveal much about the sedan only a glimpse of front grille, bonnet and headlamps can be seen. The headlamps seems stolen from Skoda’s first hatch in India; Fabia, the front grille and bonnet resembles that of Volkswagen Vento. The boot space in Rapid will be slightly more as compared to Vento.
The made-for-India sedan; Rapid, is expected to arrive in petrol as well as diesel engine options. Both of its engines will be assisted to a 5-speed manual gear box. The 1.6L petrol power train will be capable to yield a power of 105 bhp and top torque of 153 Nm, while the common rail turbo charged diesel engine will churn out same power, but a higher torque of about 250 Nm. All the specifications of Skoda Rapid are much identical to Volkswagen Vento; one thing that could make a distinction is a six-speed, twin clutch auto gearbox, which is expected to be offered in both the engine choices.
