Frankfurt Motor show is set to welcome the Skoda Rapid. Scheduled for the month of September, the Frankfurt Motor Show would be the place where Skoda Motors will unveil their highly anticipated model the Skoda Rapid. The car would be Officially launched by the end of the year. According to Skoda Motors, the Skoda Rapid is not a here to replace the Skoda Octavia, but is a brand new car itself. Thomas Kuehl, board member,sales and marketing, Skoda Auto India said that India is amongst the first few countries to get the car on its launch.

In talks with HT Kuehl said that Skoda Rapid is going to be Skoda’s new value for money offering entry-level limousine and they wish to top the category in terms of sales and leave everybody behind. He also added that the Skoda Laura and the Skoda Superb have been the front runners in terms of quality, drivability, design and equipment amongst their competitors and that their new car is ready for the same.

Skoda Rapid may arrive with a 1.6ltr engine in both petrol and diesel variants, the same that is seen in its relative the Volkswagen Vento. The C-segment of the Indian auto industry has already become combat sector for many global companies. Honda had kept the Numero Uno tag with itself until recent when VW Vento displaced it. Last month Hyundai Verna was re-launched in India and it managed to get more than 8500 bookings within a month. With Ford also expected to launch their new Ford Fiesta model, expect some huge fiery clashes in the Indian auto market.

Some of the popular hatchback models in the Indian auto market are Ford Figo, Maruti Swift, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo. Apart from these popular models, cars going to hit the Indian roads this year are Toyota Etios Liva, Maruti Cervo and New Ford Fiesta.
