The Skoda car maker is getting things easier for its parent Volkswagen that eyes a top slot car maker position worldwide in the near future. Adding another chapter to its achievements books, Skoda has rolled out 500,000 units from the Kvasiny plant at home in Czech Republic. This is another major achievement for the Czech car maker that has recently enjoyed the success that Skoda Fabia brought to it. The Skoda Superb price in India is Rs 18 lakh and it is a close rival of Hyundai Sonata, Maruti Kizashi and Volkswagen Jetta that has recently added a petrol avatar to its fleet.

The 5 lakh unit car was a white Superb Combi Laurin & Klement model that is the premium model of the car. Currently the Superb car is sold in over 85 countries and is over 1.17 lakh units were sold in 2011. China is a major market for the Superb and India is gradually becoming one. Available in sedan, estate body styling, the Superb sedan also comes with a four wheel drive option. In India, the Czech car maker assembles the Superb at the Aurangabad plant and it is from here that Skoda Fabia, Skoda Laura and Skoda Rapid are rolled out. The Superb in India is also a close rival of Toyota Camry and Honda Accord and maintains a strong presence in the Rs 20 lakh segment.

It is believed that the Skoda Superb will has a new model in the making which is expected to arrive in major markets such as US and China in the later part of this year while India will get it this year or sometime early next year. In India, the Superb has an edge over Accord as the later has only a petrol variant available.

Luxury vehicles in India are being accepted by the Indian customers, but that does not change the importance of a mass segment car. Car makers make sure to offer affordable cars to the Indian customers as demand for such vehicles is high. One such car maker which is now foraying into the mass segment after rendering premium vehicles is Renault India. Renault India will be launching its first low priced car, Renault Duster SUV.
