Skoda India has launched the low priced model of its premium luxury car Skoda Superb in order to take on Hyundai Sonata pretty well. The low priced Superb model is called as ‘Ambition’ and it reads a price tag of Rs 17.66 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) and Rs 22.07 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) for petrol and diesel variants respectively.

The Czech car maker launched the new model of Superb at a gala event held at Mahalaxmi (Mumbai), where auto enthusiasts and paparazzi swarmed in to see this low priced edition. The price cut is in fact at the cost of features and car buyers going for a Skoda Superb Ambition will lack the ‘Superb’ feel in the new Skoda car. Notably, Skoda’s introduction of a low priced edition of car model has come at a time when all other car makers are finding ways to increase the car prices.

With this cheaper trim, it lacks certain features compared to ‘Elegance’ trim that comprise of Bi-xenon headlamps and front parking sensors on the exteriors, whereas the missing features inside are screen-touch central console display, electrically powered sunroof and 6-CD audio system. Moreover, the adventurous aspects like Hill Hold (HH) and Hill Descent System (HDC) are under the omitted list under the bonnet.

The now inexpensive ‘Superb Ambition’ is powered by the same 1.8 TSI petrol engine that has a power of 160 PS at 4500-6200 rpm and a peak torque of 250 Nm at 1500-4500 rpm. The petrol run engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gear-box, which is fully synchronized.

The turbo diesel trim on the other hand is powered by a 2.0L TDI that has an expertise of churning out maximum power of 140 PS along with 320 Nm of pure torque.This powerful engine is coupled with an advanced 6-speed dual clutch Automatic Transmission (AT) with trip-tronic manual function.
