Skoda to launch five new cars in India
Czech Auto maker, Skoda is preparing to launch five new products in India in coming two years to increase its presence in Indian Auto market.
The company is planning a revamped Skoda Laura’s launch in next month and a mid-size sedan, Skoda Rapid to debut by the end of the year. Skoda is considering over a small car priced between Rs 3 lakh - 5 lakh and a smaller form of SUV in both petrol and diesel variants Skoda Yeti.
Reported by a reliable source, member of board (Sales& Marketing), Skoda Auto India stated, The Company is already having 30 % share of passenger vehicles in Indian Auto market with its popular models Skoda Fabia, Skoda Superb, Skoda Yeti and Skoda Laura and now is looking forward to its new launches to increase its market share in coming years by 4-6%.
In recent months, the market has seen cut throat competition in the premium mid-size sedan segment.
South Korean car makers Hyundai introduced Hyundai Verna Fluidic in may and since then 21,000 cars has been booked. Maruti Suzuki launched new SX4 in diesel variant in February and Ford will be introducing the Global Fiesta in this year.
Launched in November, Skoda Yeti priced between Rs. 15.35 lakh- Rs. 16.73 lakh (ex-showroom) in Delhi, could not capture its projected 20 % share of the SUV segment.
The company is expecting to double its sales to over 40,000 units this year with launch of its new sedan in addition to sales of New Skoda Fabia, Skoda Superb, Skoda Laura and Skoda Yeti and is also mulling over a small car for the India Buyers to be launched in 2013.
