Small cars raining this festive season
In the upcoming few months, the Indian car sector will witness the unveiling of many small cars from the stable of chief auto manufacturing companies. The approach of these top companies seems to be serious as the cars will be costing below INR 500,000. Keeping the festive season in mind, the Japan based automaker Honda will launch Brio on September 27, 2011 i.e. Tuesday and Hyundai, the South Korean multinational is projected to launch its most awaited small car Eon; which directly competes with India’s top selling small car till date Maruti Alto.

The increase in the demand for the small cars has made the top groups like Skoda, Fiat India, Renault and Volkswagen enthusiastic; hence they are geared up for launching their small cars. Also, the fact that small cars account for 70% of the 2.5 million cars sold nationwide, has added the spark among the companies.

According to reports, the requirement comes from the first time buyers and motor bike owners who desire to advance to small cars. An approximate price of around INR 300,000 is expected for Maruti Cervo, while Hyundai Motors is planning to retail its Eon at even less then INR 250,000 range.

Renault India Vice President for Sales and Marketing, Mr. Len Curran informed that their company would launch a small car by sharing the Nissan Micra platform in the price bracket of INR 300,000 in the first quarter of 2012.
