Mahindra’s Korean subsidiary Ssangyong will be presenting the Ssangyong XIV 3 at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. The grand auto show is scheduled from September 29 to October 14 in Paris. The XIV 3 is a compact SUV and it will be a rival to the Ford Ecosport SUV. Notably, both Ford and Ssangyong intend to launch SUVs in India and both will be launching their SUVs in India this Diwali. Where Ford will be launching the Ecosport, Ssangyong will be launching the Korando and Rexton SUVs. With these SUVs in, it is expected that the compact SUV market that is warming up with the Renault Duster and Premier Rio 1.3 L Multijet diesel car will set afire.

The showcase of the XIV-3 at the Paris Show is believed to be one of the major event at the upcoming motor Show. This is reported to be the production ready version of the XIV series. For the XIV this will be the ultimate showcase as after that a series of launches will begin. Ssangyong has specifically mentioned that the new SUV will be a mix of never before experience and fun. Price wise as well as in the segment, the XIV will be put under the Korando C and thus the new SUV will be the entry level model by the Korean car maker. If it all manages to come to India, and there is high probability of its launch in the country, the XIV-3 will be able to outshine Duster as well as the upcoming SUVs such as Chevrolet Trax and the Ecosport.

As per the information available about the XIV-3 by Ssangyong, it will have 1.6 L diesel and petrol engine options and the SUV will be available in manual and automatic transmission versions. Meanwhile, reports also suggest that the Ssangyong’s parent company Mahindra is also developing a compact SUV and is also bringing in the new model of Mahindra Scorpio.
