Tata hopes to improve its market share with Safari Storme

Tata Indica did fetch tremendous sales for Tata Motors, then the Tata Indigo did it, but Tata Nano could not. This time the car maker is banking on its latest invent Tata Safari Storme. The new avatar of the already famous SUV Tata Safari, the Storme is a new car altogether though it has design hints from its predecessor. Currently, the car maker has a decent 12 percent hold over the utility market and it hopes that it will certainly improve to a great extent this year with the help of Storme. Notably, sales in the SUV segment has seen a recent spur with an improvement of over 50 percent in sales. Thus the improvement in the sales in the segment will be reflected in the sales of this Tata SUV as well.

Experts believe that the Storme has several plus points over other cars in its segment. First it is the Safari Storme price that starts at just over Rs 10 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.12 lakh that really will help the car gain some momentum this year. Secondly, the new VariCor engine is giving the exact performance that the car needs besides high fuel efficiency. Thirdly, it is the Tata Aria platform that will also help it attain popularity in the segment. But despite of all good in Safari, there are certain other SUVs in the segment that look pleasing. Renault Duster is one of them. Other two upcoming SUVs that could dampen the prospects of Safari Storme are Ford Ecosport and Maruti XA Alpha. Where Ecosport launch is round the corner, there is no official announcement by Maruti regarding the launch of its new SUV.

Another major offering that is eating the market of Safari Storme is the Mahindra XUV 5OO. Being an altogether new car and that too with world class looks, the XUV 5OO is heading for a near market capture, experts predict. In addition to this, Mahindra Scorpio and Force Motors Force One is also in competition of this Tata SUV. To what extent this car will be able to register the car maker’s presence in the SUV segment is a matter of wait and watch only.
