The current market slowdown seems to have put brakes on the car launches in the coming months and all these are expected to be scheduled for Diwali launch. Tata Safari Storme that was expected to be launched by next month is believed to have been postponed by a couple of months. Notably, the Tata Safari Storme is the new generation of Safari SUV by Tata and is based on the Tata Aria platform that makes it more maneuverable and performing. The Safari Storme is expected to be priced a little higher than current generation Safari but will have unbeatable looks and features.

The present generation Safari has single handed ruled the Indian market for long and has given tough time to Mahindra Scorpio and other SUVs in the country. However, it has failed miserably due to the lack of encouraging sales recently. This might have happened due to the same mundane looks of the Safari when there are much modern looking SUVs available at just a little extra such as Mahindra XUV 500. Besides this the Safari avatar Storme is expected to sit side by side the existing Safari and Tata is highly banking on it to be a volume player when it senior has failed to do some miracle recently.

Deferring the Storme launch also means that Tata has assessed that the market is slow right now and pitching in another SUV would mean meek sales. Meanwhile, as per the reports, Renault Duster launch is on July 4 and this French SUV is expected to eat a lot of share of the existing SUVs in India as it is believed that the car maker will be pricing it well in the affordable range. As per the official teasers on the internet, the Duster SUV will be more affordable than a sedan.
