Tata Safari Storme SUV and its rivals check
Tata Motors India has finally brought in the majorly face-lifted and upgraded version of its age old SUV, Tata Safari. The new one is known as Tata Safari Storme. This one has certainly been blessed with some mind-blowing exterior features, which add on to the appearance, while the engine is stronger than before. However, at one hand, where the Indian car market is giving a warm welcome to the SUV, at the same time, the heavy competition for the car is a bit of tension for Tata. Cars like Renault Duster, Mahindra XUV 500 and Mahindra Scorpio are present in the Indian car bazaar to challenge the fresh and revamped Tata Safari Storme.

Tata Safari Storme VS Mahindra Scorpio VS Renault Duster Vs Mahindra XUV 500
What does an Indian car consumer think of first, when purchasing any car? Of course the price. Therefore, keeping this factor in mind, Tata Motors India rolled out Tata Safari Storme with an initial price of Rs. 9, 95,000. However, with the hefty competition, the price might seem to be a bit high here. On one hand, where Renault Duster was introduced for Rs. 7, 12,000 and Mahindra Scorpio came along with a price tag of Rs. 7, 72,316, the new Tata Safari Storme price is slightly put higher on the graph. But on the other hand, the Mahindra XUV 500 is the costliest here, which was launched for Rs. 11, 58,472. Hence, Duster stole the show in terms of price here.

If comparing the 2012 Tata Safari Storme with Renault Duster, the engine of Duster (1461cc) falls a bit short as compared to Storme (2179cc). The Duster engine churns out maximum 85PS of power and 200Nm of torque, the Storme engine is capable of producing 140BHP of power and 320Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV 500 comes with similar Strome engine and has been tweaked to churn out almost same crest power (140BHP) and torque (330Nm). Even Mahindra Scorpio engine is of similar capacity of 2179cc that is tuned to give out 86.7kW of power and 290Nm of torque. So it appears that in engine department Storme and XUV 500 are going neck to neck.

Another major factor before buying a car is the mileage delivered by it. The 2012 Tata Safari Storme has been tuned accordingly and manages to give out about 13kmpl of mileage. On the other hand, it competitors give similar mileage figures except Renault Duster. Mahindra Scorpio delivers 14kmpl of mileage, Mahindra XUV 500 delivers 15.1kmpl of fuel economy, but Renault Duster gives out a whopping 20.46kmpl of mileage. Hence, Duster is a clear winner when it comes to fuel efficiency deliverance.

In terms of features, Tata Safari Storme SUV is going head to head with all its competitors. The Storme SUV comes with every comfort features that you would like to see in a premium SUV, whereas Mahindra Scorpio, Mahindra XUV 500 and Renault Duster doesn’t lag behind in the race. They are well-resourced with numerous impressive features as well, ranging from automatic climate control, rear AC vents to ABS, EBD, airbags etc. Therefore, it would be a tough choice for a consumer choosing from these big champions in the SUV segment.
