Tata Zest receives an over whelming response, 10,000 bookings registered
Zest, Tata Motors' new compact sedan is said to have received an encouraging response from the market with an "order pipeline of 10,000 plus", within a short span of 20 days of its launch. Pitted against strong competitors such as Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent, the Zest was pitted as the company's come back vehicle to regain market share. Ranjit Yadav, president of passenger vehicle business unit on Monday tweeted, ""Delighted that TataZest already has an order pipeline of 10k+ for next 2months."
"TataZest Revotron petrol variants have a waiting period of 4-6 weeks and 3 months for diesel AMT, " Yadav added. While sales of Zest would have brought in incremental numbers for Tata Motors the wholesale numbers for the company continued to be dismal. It posted a decline of 5% for the company to 10,975 nos as against 11,564 vehicles sold in August 2013.
Sales of the passenger cars in August 2014 were 8,229 nos., lower by 6% over 8,761 vehicles sold in August 2013. The sales of utility vehicles were 2,746 nos., declined by 2% over 2,803 nos., sold in August last year. The company would be hoping for momentum to sustain as it fight its historic low market share of below 5%, with its ranking in FY-15 slipping to number 6 position for the first time in its history. The company has lined up a new premium hatchback Bolt in the next couple of months.
