Tata Zest scheduled for launch next month, production started
Tata Zest, the highly anticipated compact sedan from domestic car maker Tata Motors which was showcased during the Indian Auto Expo 2014 along with its sibling Bolt hatchback is readying to make its debut in Indian car market sometimes during the next month. Few days back the car maker started the online booking of Zest and now according to reports the compact sedan has gone for production at company’s Ranjangoan production unit.
The compact sedan would be launched in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant will be empowered with newly developed Revortron 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine while the diesel version will be empowered with 1.3 litre diesel engine. Both the engine will be mated with five speed manual gearbox, however interestingly the diesel variant will be also offered with AMT gearbox.
With this new launch the domestic car maker intends to strengthen its weakening position in Indian car market and therefore is not leaving any stone unturned on it. The compact sedan is an advanced version of its elder siblings Manza and Vista as it is based on the same X1 platform on which both Manza and Vista are developed. Along with Zest it’s another sibling Bolt hatchback is also under production and is expected to launch in Indian car market after Zest’s launch. Both these cars are speculated to enhance the sales of car maker. After launch Zest will compete against recently launched Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and Maruti Swift Dzire.
