The new Mahindra Bolero caught testing on Chennai Roads
Since its inception in Indian car market from June 2000, Mahindra Bolero has been one of the successful SUV in India. Now the domestic car manufacturer is working on bringing the generation next Bolero in India in 2016, this was also confirmed by spies who witnessed the next generation Bolero going through test drives on Chennai-Tiruchirappalli highway. Codenamed as U301 the SUV was highly covered and seems to be going under cosmetic changes as the result of which spies could not detect the major changes but still they got some clues.
To begin with mechanical changes it is speculated that company might tune the existing 63 bhp 2.5 litre diesel engine with enhanced m-Hawk engine which would same as offered in its other sibling Scorpio with enhanced power of 120 bhp and torque of 290 Nm. Now it would be interested that if Bolero is boosted with engine configuration offered in Scorpio that what will be its fuel efficiency. Because Bolero dominates the market of rural India where fuel efficiency plays an critical role in determining the choice of buyers.
It would be important to mention that from time to time Mahindra has upgraded the SUV according to changing condition of Indian car market and boosted the SUV with latest technical features. The recent in this series was Special Edition of Bolero launched few months back. It is speculated that company will bring huge changes in the Bolero, the major one could be introduction of hydroframed ladder frame chassis, which results in developing light weighted, stronger platform for different vehicles. Apart from this it is also speculated that company may offer new Bolero as sub four meter SUV, replacing the Quanto.
