Japanese car maker Toyota has been reportedly on a sprint to world’s number one car maker position. It is said that the car maker with the help of some its best offerings including Toyota Camry, Toyota 4Runner, Toyota Avalon besides a lot of other cars offered worldwide with different names and specifications. As per the recent updated data, Toyota car sales have surpassed GM car sales by 3 lakh cars and VW by 5.2 lakh cars worldwide. This is a considerable difference and it is believed that regaining the top slot will be quite easier for the car maker this year. Notably, the car maker has been the number one car maker from 2008 to 2010 till the earthquake and Tsunami marred the supply of Toyota cars worldwide.  

It is believed that India has a significant contribution in the international car sales after US as the car maker has considerable presence in every segment in the country. Starting with Toyota Etios Liva in the hatchback segment, it has Toyota Etios sedan, Toyota Innova MPV and Toyota Fortuner SUV in place in the country. Other significant models include Toyota Corolla Altis, Toyota Camry, Toyota Prius, Toyota LC Prado and Toyota Land Cruiser 200. Among all these cars Etios, Etios Liva and Innova besides Fortuner are the best selling Toyota cars. In India, Toyota cars are appreciated for their high level of reliability and fuel efficiency besides comfort and safety. The brand is well settled in India. However, the car industry still expects an entry level car offering from the car maker.  

In US which is a major market for Toyota cars, the 4Runner and Camry besides Avalon are the best selling cars while the recent launch of Etios and Etios Liva cars in India and some other countries has helped the car maker gain sufficient volumes to counter the sales of big wigs such as GM and VW. It was due to the short supply of parts and ensued outages in 2011 that the car maker could not produce sufficient numbers and even after the demand it could not sell cars and thus had lost the title of world’s top car maker. Now that it has regained production as well as all the things in place and is also exploring new markets, it is believed that it will be the world’s number one car maker this year.
