Toyota Fortuner’s local assembly in Pakistan starts, price slashed
The segment leader in big SUV sales in India – Toyota Fortuner is soon to be going to be the leader in SUV sales in Pakistan as well. The car maker has decided to initiate the process of assembling the car in there. Notably, it is the high price of the SUV that is keeping it away from encouraging sales and after the car is assembled in Pakistan it will be able to get a new price tag which is expected to make it much more affordable. The local Toyota partner Indus Motor Company has already initiated the process of local assembly and is importing the car as kits. Once this happens, the car will have a price revision and the end customer will benefit from it as the Pakistani partner has decided to pass on the majority of profit to the car buyers. Meanwhile, the SUV is creating much buzz and has become the segment leader but had much spoilsport played by low priced Mahindra XUV 500.
The latest measure adopted by the car maker in Pakistan will not only bring good sales but will also add to the popularity of the SUV as is already a heartthrob in SUV sales in the country. It sells well in comparison to the Chevrolet Captiva or any other SUV and its popularity is well known in the country. Being a Toyota car, the Fortuner gets a wider appeal and this is the reason why it has got a robust presence in the segment.
The new and improved car that was launched some time back has greatly helped the car giant get some encouraging numbers in the recent past. The new price of Fortuner in Pakistan is over Rs 17 lakh less than the price of the imported unit. Now the price of the car is over Rs 28.6 lakh in Indian rupee equivalent and this makes it highly affordable as well as a must buy in the segment.
