Volkswagen Polo, Golf best selling cars in Europe
Volkswagen Polo hatch and Volkswagen Vento sedan have been the two star performers in India and now among these Polo has brought accolades for the German car maker on an international platform. VW Polo has become the second best selling car in Europe. The first position being taken by small car Volkswagen Golf. Unfortunately, Indian lacks Golf in the VW product line up.
Golf that is a sportier version of the small car by VW has reportedly meek prospects in India following its price and it is the reason why the German car maker has refrained from bringing this car in India. Sources say that at the price of Golf, the customer can have a sedan. However, the Polo elder sibling has been spied in India recently while testing in Pune. This could be an indication that VW will be pitching the Golf in India in the completely knocked down route to bring down the price.
On the other hand Polo has also been a consistent performer all through 2011 in Europe and Britain besides India with exceptionally well sales. In India, Polo and Vento duo have been very promising and have impressed and thus have fetched good sales in 2011. As per a report, over 356, 490 Polo cars were sold to customers in Europe while Polo also secured a place among ten best selling cars in Britain. Polo received similar response in South Africa with Polo Vivo becoming the best selling car in November 2011.
In India the VW Polo range starts from Rs 4.57 lakh for the base petrol version and goes up to Rs 7.15 lakh for the Volkswagen Polo Diesel Highline. Its sporty looks besides comfort and a great brand have all pushed the sales of the hatchback in India. Besides, VW Vento has also performed well in India and is available in both diesel and petrol offerings. However, in the last few months due to rise in petrol price, Vento diesel sales have gone up.
