There are plethoras of small cars in India and there are more to come. Among these Volkswagen Up is a car that has been the talk of the town for quite some time. Now the latest update about the car says that it is finally coming to India and only the price tag as well as some customization as per the market needs are to be made. However, no final date was revealed by the sources but reports hint at a near Diwali launch. It is said that the Up launch could have been earlier as well but following the grim situation in the market as well as low demand for Volkswagen cars in India desists the car maker from taking any immediate launch decision. The car by VW is expected to be priced at Rs 4 lakh.

In India, the car will be competing with an array of small cars that have established themselves quite well. These include Chevrolet Spark, Hyundai Eon, Maruti Wagon R, Tata Indica eV2 and Hyundai Santro Xing besides other cars. However, the new car will have an edge over all these cars as the brand is known for offering premium cars and there is a rising trend that people are buying premium cars in India. Also, the car will be an instant hit as people who know the brand will be buying the Up easily as the car is already a hit in the regions where it is available presently.

The only thing that may be bothering the German car maker is the price of the car as it cannot pull down the price to rock bottom level as other alternatives from other car makers have an advantage of producing majority of the car components in India while the Up will have to keep high level of imported components in order to keep its unique selling point.
