Chevrolet Tavera has been one of the most successful Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) from the stable of US based carmaker General Motors in India. The vehicle got full advantage of the discontinued Toyota Qualis, as it went on to become first choice of fleet operators and cabbies in the country. The class leading aspect of Tavera has been its value for money proposition alongside low maintenance and high fuel efficiency against other vehicles in the segment. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that ensures smooth driving under heavy city traffic conditions. Compared to the competition Chevrolet Tavera is capable of delivering a city mileage of 11.5 kmpl, while 14.8 kmpl can be achieved on highway drives. The Chevrolet Tavera is satisfactory when it comes to acceleration as it races from nothing to 100 kph in only 22.3 seconds besides top speed of 138 kmph. The pickup seems a bit sluggish, but it is good, considering the segment that it falls in.
